GCTS is the Gulf Conformity Tracking Symbol, and the first thing to fix is that it is not a third certificate. GSO's tracking system page states that products certified with notified body involvement are registered in the GSO product tracking system and have to display the GCTS on the product itself and on its packaging. Two product groups sit in that scope today. The first is children toys under technical regulation BD-131704-01: Gulf Type Examination under Annex IV for toys that do not fully conform to Gulf standards, and importer verification of conformity under Annex V, where each consignment of imported toys has to undergo certification by a notified body. The second is low-voltage electrical equipment under BD-142004-01, covering 50 to 1000 volts AC and 75 to 1500 volts DC, with list No. 2 (TC143307-01) naming 13 categories that require Gulf Type Examination, among them domestic fans, refrigerators up to 850 litres, washing machines up to 12 kg, food mixers, toasters, hair dryers, heaters, microwaves, ovens, water heaters, irons, plugs, sockets and chargers, and air conditioners. For a buyer the practical read is simple: on these products a G-mark alone is not the full story, the GCTS symbol next to it is what shows the certificate is registered.
